My current project (and full-time job) is Phone Scoop, a web site about mobile phones for the U.S.

Since I own the site and the business, I have complete control over every aspect of this large (and growing) site. This gives me a chance to perfect my craft - to continually refine it into what I consider to be the perfect web site. Of course, it's never quite there, but it's fun to have that as a goal.

It also gives me a chance to try new things. Whenever there's a new web technology I want to learn or try, there's usually some way I can use it with the site.

My approach to web design and development is relatively conservative. I value simplicity in both functionality and implementation.

The site started with this design:

...which was okay, and lasted for almost two years, but never quite had the level of "polish" I wanted for the site. So I worked on a lot of different designs in early 2003, before finally settling on this:

I'm very pleased with this new design, which received an overwhelmingly positive response when it launched in October 2003.

I don't really consider myself a businessman at heart, but do I enjoy certain aspects of the business side more than I expected to. The "instant gratification" nature of the Internet is a big part of that - it's definitely a rush when a change in strategy leads to increased profits in as little as a week!
